Figure the way to abstraction

Abstraction has always been difficult territory for me.

At last week's Occasional Figure Drawing Workgroup we experimented with the model (Holly) either standing still and moving her arms and torso around while we drew.

For these two drawings I drew (mostly) in one continuous line without lifting the charcoal from the paper.

Charcoal on cartridge paper (42 cm by 29.7 cm).
