ASOC Portrait and Life on show in Queanbeyan

The next week or so provides great opportunities to see artworks by artists from my ASOC Workgroups. Artworks depicting a number of our models (particularly Michael, Peter and Lauren) are on display at both exhibitions.
Bobby Graham's Conceal / Reveal is on show at Rusten House (26 September – 18 October). Bobby's exhibition brings together works developed from direct observational life drawings made in sketchbooks over many years. The works evolve through the addition of digital colour, pattern and layered surfaces, concealing and revealing different aspects of the subject. The exhibition reflects an ongoing fascination with drawing as a process of discovery.
Also on show in Queanbeyan is A Lifetime in Lines, a massive retrospective of work by Trevor Gibson, at the The Queanbeyan Hive (2–23 October 2026). This exhibition brings together paintings, watercolours, life drawings and architectural works by Trevor Gibson. Curated from his personal archive in celebration of his 85th year, the exhibition reveals decades of close observation, inventive design and creative practice—from life drawings and watercolours to architectural plans and projects that have helped shape the local region.
I was tickled to see the portfolios containing artworks made by Trevor when he was a student at Canberra High School in the 1950s.
