A model case of improvisation

Really happy with day 1 of the ASOC Portrait & Life Drawing work group I attended today. First, the big fail - the booked model did not arrive.

The big save - we took it in turns to do five minute and 20 minute poses. I am very pleased with these three sketches. "Jim", five minutes, charcoal on butchers paper, 51 cm by 76 cm. Some nice foreshortening in Jim's right elbow to deal with.

"Trevor", 20 minutes, pencil and charcoal on cartridge paper, 42 cm by 59 cm. I termed this one the artist rests. "Robyn", 20 minutes, pencil and charcoal on cartridge paper, 42 cm by 59 cm. Robyn donned one of the studio's hats. This one has the vibe of a Matisse Tea in the Garden to me. I need to find the time to turn these sketches into paintings.
